A standard of the cabaret storytelling genre, this is the old, Girl gets left by her lover...
Melitta opens the scene, arriving as a happy bride preparing for her wedding. She is playfully sexy, showing off her ring to the audience, a picture perfect happy bride. But, no, fate shall intervene and bring her off her lofty perch with the discovery of a letter under her powder box.
From her reactions, we know the letter has told her no good news. The wedding is off.
In a mess of tears, she rips the letter to pieces and throws the ring into the audience. The jilted lover literally rips the dress from her body and proceeds to act her rage on the silks to the awesome benefit of all those lucky enough to witness the spectacle of a woman scorned.
